May 25th Stay with Dinner
Countryside afternoon at Estancia 25 de Mayo, at the foot of Cerro El Calafate, with hotel transfer, mate and tortas fritas, sheep herding and shearing, a wine tasting, a spit-roasted lamb dinner and a folk show.
Experience a Patagonian countryside afternoon at Estancia 25 de Mayo, at the foot of Cerro El Calafate, with afternoon pick-up from your hotel and return at night after the dinner show.
You are welcomed with mate and tortas fritas, and ranch life begins right away: a lamb-on-the-cross demonstration, sheep herding with dogs and a shearing demonstration.
You tour the old shearing shed, the corrals and the sheep dips, with a photo exhibition, and watch horses being saddled or a cow being milked. Then a walk along the Arroyo Calafate trail leads to a wine tasting at the Mirador del Arroyo.
Dinner is at El Quincho restaurant: criolla empanadas and pickled eggplant, spit-roasted lamb with salads from the garden, and homemade flan with dulce de leche or baked apple, with a folk show by local artists. Drinks with dinner are not included.
The experience lasts about five and a half hours. As an option you can add a horseback ride, which may have an extra cost, or stroll through the organic garden and nurseries.
